New Day Wins New Excelling Artist Award at SGM FanFair
MESQUITE, Texas - Texas based trio New Day was awarded Favorite New Excelling Artist at last week's SGM FanFair Awards.
The SGM FanFair Awards are awarded by the readers of Christian Voice Magazine and fans of the SGM FanFair. The category of New Excelling Artist honors new artists who have seen a significant increase in their ministry over the past year.
New Day's Kelley Matthews said, "WOW! We are still in shock! We are so grateful to everyone who has believed in our ministry since day one and all those who have supported us in the process. Thank you to everyone for voting for us! We are so honored!"
Winners for the 4th Annual SGM FanFair Awards were announced during SGM FanFair at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee this past Thursday, April 3, 2008.
New Day scored their first charting single this past year. The single, "Soul Searchin'", debuted at #69 on the November issue of the Gospel Music News Top 100 chart. "Soul Searchin'" was written by John Robinson and is the title cut on the group's latest release.
New Day's latest album, Soul Searchin', was produced by Jessica Harrison. The new album also features brand new songs written by heavy hitting songwriters like Rebecca J. Peck, Tim Parton, John Robinson, and Dottie Rambo. Jessica Harrison also contributed to the songwriting efforts as well as group members Kelley Matthews and Pam Reeves.

New Day to be a Part of the Southern Spin Entertainment Showcase
Southern Spin Entertainment Announces Details Regarding Annual Showcase at National Quartet Convention
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Amy Marie Unthank and Chris D. Unthank, owners of SSE Group, are proud to announce the talent line up and details regarding the Southern Spin Entertainment Showcase during the week of the National Quartet Convention. The event will span two days and will feature a majority of Southern Spin Entertainment’s artist roster as well as friends of the company.
The SSE showcase will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, September 12 and 13, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Canterbury Room at the Executive Inn (East).
“We love getting a chance to show off our artists,” mentioned Amy Marie Unthank of SSE Group. “We feel like we have some of the best artists currently touring the nation, and we are happy to provide them with a platform in which they can let their ministries be showcased.”
The Wednesday, September 12, 2007 Showcase will feature performances from Amazed, Brothers Forever, Dave Williford Band, the Gardners, Heartland Harmony, HisSong, the Imperials, Sharron Kay King, New Day, Next Chapter Quartet, Sunday Edition, and Wendy Word + forgiven.
On Thursday, September 13, 2007, Sondra Burnett, the Cerces, Everyday Driven, the Glovers, Bev McCann, Mercy Rain, the Pathfinders, the Prophets Quartet, the Quicks, and Vertical Praise will all be performing. Additional artists are still being confirmed for the Thursday line-up.

New Day to Host Release Concert for New Recording - Soul Searchin'
Concert Also to Honor Military
MESQUITE, Texas - Texas based trio New Day will be hosting a release concert for the group’s new recording - Soul Searchin'.
The concert will take place on Friday, August 3, 2007 at Trinity Life Baptist Church in Garland, Texas. The concert will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. and will also feature special guest Southern Spirit Quartet.
New Day will be performing material from their brand new recording Soul Searchin'.
"We are so excited about this new album," mentioned Kelley Matthews of New Day. "We have fallen in love with all the new songs, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new material."
The concert will also honor the United States Military who are currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those planning on attending the event are encouraged to bring an item to donate to the military (such as baby wipes, twin size sheets, hard candy, Ramen noodes, phone calling cards, etc.).
Bob Reeves of New Day said, "We have such a heart for the military serving in the Middle East. We know that people feel like there is nothing they can do, but every little bit helps. We hope that this event will lead to moments of encouragement for our military."
