New Day Nominated for New Excelling Artist

MESQUITE, Texas - Texas based trio New Day was recently nominated for New Excelling Artist in the upcoming SGM FanFair Awards.

The SGM FanFair Awards are awarded by the readers of Christian Voice Magazine and fans of the SGM FanFair. The category of New Excelling Artist honors new artists who have seen a significant increase in their ministry over the past year.

Bob Reeves of New Day said, "We are absolutely speechless that the fans would nominate us for this award! We feel like we had a great year with a new record and our debut single charting! This was a humbling nomination for us! Thank you to everyone who voted for us!"

New Day is honored to be joined by Mountain Creek Harmony, Donnie Rabon, Paul Family, and Shane Tecza in the New Excelling Artist category.

Voting for the SGM FanFair is open to all fans of Southern Gospel music. Voting for the awards ends on February 29, 2008. To place your vote - visit www.sgmfanfair.com.

Winners will be announced at the 4th Annual SGM FanFair Awards during SGM FanFair at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee on April 3, 2008.

New Day's debut single, "Soul Searchin'," recently became their first ever charting song. "Soul Searchin'" debuted at #69 on the November issue of the Gospel Music News Top 100 chart.

"Soul Searchin'" was written by John Robinson and is the title cut on the group's latest release. The song was sent to Southern Gospel radio through the Rick Hendrix Company.

New Day's latest album, Soul Searchin', was produced by Jessica Harrison (Hope's Call). Harrison has previously worked on recordings for the Jody Brown Indian Family, The Dills, and more. Soul Searchin' was engineered by Joe Carrell. Vocals were recorded at Daywind Studios in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The new album also features brand new songs written by heavy hitting songwriters like Rebecca J. Peck, Tim Parton, John Robinson, and Dottie Rambo. Jessica Harrison also contributed to the songwriting efforts as well as group members Kelley Matthews and Pam Reeves.

The group currently has tracks from the new album streaming on their MySpace. Be listening for New Day’s second single, "Livin' For Today", at Southern Gospel radio all across the country!
